Frequently Asked Questions

A crusher or existing aggregate stockpile can be fed the crushed material through an aggregate screen, which separates it into different sizes. A vibrating screen box with various screens or meshes of different sizes separates the material by size.

Aggregates are crushed and broken down before they can be turned into concrete, removing imperfections and eliminating unnecessary coatings.

Screening is the separation of material into 2 – 6 different-sized products. The material is separated by passing it through a vibrating ‘screen box’ which has a number of different sized screens, or meshes, which the material falls through like a seive.

Aggregates make concrete mixes dense and contribute to mechanical strength by reducing the need for water and cement. This ingredient is necessary for the construction of concrete buildings.

Materials typically found in a resurfacing material include gravel, crushed rock, sand, recycled concrete, slag, and synthetic aggregate.
